Before I get into today's entry I'd like to ask for your help. I'm getting rid of a bunch of stuff before I move, and I have a handful of copies of Sexography in my possession that I'd like to sell off over the next week so that I don't have to pack them up. (I'm also getting rid of my desk and TV armoire among a bunch of other stuff, but that's not as easy to ship all over the country, I'm thinking.) All I need is the cover price of the book ($24.95) and some extra bucks for shipping and handling (around $3, I think?) via PayPal. And the first two people who jump on this bandwagon will get a copy of Naked Ambition for free. Any takers? Drop me an e-mail and let me know.
Now then. Last year I was sent pretty much all over the world for work, and when I came home I said, "I'm staying home in '08."
Famous last words.
I will be home a grand total of five days in June. Five! It wasn't entirely my fault. Truth be told, there's no way I'd be traveling like this if it weren't for work - I'm really lucky that this is part of my job. I knew AOL was sending me to Spain and Portugal in the first week, and then because I knew I was going to be going in and out of New York, I thought, "Hey, maybe I can add a trip in there and get some assignments, not to mention do a reading." Editors wanted content. Done.
But then my friend Nick said, "You have to come to Toronto, you're right there!" So I contacted more editors and asked them if they wanted some Toronto content. They do, so there we go - tickets booked. Then I go home for two days - just long enough to do the second In The Flesh... and enough time to unpack and repack for a luxury camping trip assignment that was canceled last year due to forest fire. Then I'm finally home by July 2nd, but shortly after that I take off for Arizona for a reading, and maybe another assignment in Calgary... and then there's a road trip assignment in August...
Man. How did this happen? And as if all that isn't enough, I have to move mere days before I leave for Spain and Portugal. So at the moment, my pre-trip To Do list - which is an admitted mix of necessary and frivolous - looks something like this:
• Write and send the press release for In The Flesh.
• Work with my publicist to wrangle press for Toronto and New York.
• Do an interview with Jenny Block and write it up for 2 Magazine.
• Finish writing up another piece for 2 (in which I had an incredible conversation with Yehuda Berg... more on that later.)
• Write about six articles for GoGirlfriend.com (new gig!)
• Do the Whole Life Times calendar listings for July.
• Plan my August book dates for San Fran, Oakland, possibly San Jose, Seattle and Portland.
• Solidify the press arrangements for that trip, because I'm also on assignment.
• Pitch more.
• Pack up my condo.
• Paint my new place.
• Move everything two days before I leave the country.
• Finish a press release for a friend.
• Solidify the In The Flesh line-up for July.
• Get my hair done.
• Write a blog entry for my Amazon blog.
• Hike a minimum three times a week, yoga three times a week, walk twice a week.
• Get my car washed.
• Clean my condo from top to bottom for the upcoming open house.
• Do laundry.
• Finish two books for review.
• Go to therapy, acupuncture, hypnotherapy.
• Do more work on my screenplay (yes, Josh, I know.)
• Find a wine sponsor for In The Flesh.
• Update my blogroll.
• Get ready for BEA.
• Host Sandra and Rachel when they come to town.
• Go to Disneyland with Sandra in tow for an article I'm writing about how to be a grown-up princess (seriously, my job is so much fun.)
• Did I mention move? Yeah. TWO DAYS BEFORE I LEAVE THE COUNTRY.
• Change my address with the post office and on all my accounts.
• Shut some stuff down, because for the first time in my life, I'm actually going to go without TV in my new spot. (But not internet. I'm not crazy.)
• Sleep. Maybe.
I think that's about it. I'm hoping I didn't miss anything. Needless to say, it's going to be a busy couple of weeks... but then again, what would I do with myself if it wasn't?
Um. Help?
