I'm interrupting the wacky MT issues and Finland stories to bring you the news I was alluding to a couple days ago. This has been a project Kevin and I have been bandying about for nearly a year, and it's finally come to fruition.
April is National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention month, and the Rape and Incest National Network is aiming to raise money to make their online hotline run 24/7. Kevin and I partnered with RAINN to launch a blogathon designed not only to help them raise the money they need, but also to encourage the bloggers to write in their own way about sexuality to help encourage new discussions and thought. And as a bonus? There's $5000 in prizes to be doled out to the top three earners - the grand prize is worth $3500 - and four of the best entries posted in April. All you have to do is write about sexuality in your own special way.
But know that you don't have to be a sex writer to be a part of this. You should write about it however you feel comfortable writing about it. So if you want to write about not liking writing about it, fine! And if you want to write about funny things, that's good too! My idea is not to get you to change the way you write, just to hijack what you write about at least once a week for a month. It should make for some interesting reading!
Oh, and because you want to know, the prizing is sponsored by The Moxie Girls and Moxie Design Studios, Jimmy Belasco Candles, Jewelry Designer Huli Sloane, Photographer Raphael Sloane, Whole Foods, Exquisite Restraint, Master Stylist Djuna Citrin, Zhen Beauty, Booty Parlor, Sex educator and Village Voice columnist Tristan Taormino, Brookside Premium Chocolate, Psychic Ida Hartsman, Come As You Are, Snow Queen Vodka, Changing Hands Bookstore and author Lisa Solod Warren.
I'd love if you'd be involved and help this worthy cause. Read more about it here, and sign up!
