Dear Me,
There are some things you have to remember that you seem to forget.
First of all, you’re doing fine. Really, you are. You’re in a sticky situation, sure, but you’re handling it the best you can, and that’s all anyone can ask of you. But more than that, you’re handling it. That means that you’re not burying your head in the sand like you have in the past. Tomorrow you’re meeting with a realtor about doing a short sale, and that’s a step in the right direction. It would be much worse if you weren’t taking action.
But that leads me to the second thing. You don’t have to do it all at once. You don’t have to worry about how you’re going to make this payment or that yet – you have time to deal with that. You don’t have to worry about next week, or next month, or even next year. Just worry about now… and right now you don’t have anything to worry about because you’ve done all you can.
Thirdly, you don’t have to write like anyone else but you. I know you think you have to be someone else, and I know you read other people and wish that you wrote like them. But if you wrote like them you wouldn’t write like you. And if they wrote like you, they wouldn’t be them. See how that works? There’s room enough for everyone.
But in that same vein, if you want to make improvements in your craft, there’s nothing wrong with that. If you think you’re too wordy, then find a way to say more in less. Just don’t lose the essence of who you are when you do that.
Above all else, though, please don’t be so hard on yourself. It just makes things worse. Take care of you when things are stressful. Eat right, sleep well, go for walks and hikes again when you feel better. And don’t lose faith.
Love,
Me.
