So a quick update on how the RAINN blogathon fundraiser effort (a.k.a. GBBMC: 2008) is coming along as we get ready to get started...

• We're getting new sign ups every day... and some are from men! I'm exceedingly giddy about this. I was worried that people would think it was somehow exclusionary, like only sex bloggers could enter, or only women writers could be a part of it... luckily my fears are being blasted out of the water as men - both gay and straight - are jumping on board. Kudos, guys. I'm so glad to have you be a part of this.
• That reminds me, Kevin and I agreed to extend the sign-up date to the 15th because we figured some people would need more time to decide whether or not they wanted to be a part of it, and also to see how some of the others choose to address the task at hand. So yeah, you've got more time... but the longer you wait, the less time you have to raise tons of funds to win one of our kick-ass prize packs.
• Back to the sign-ups... even though people outside the U.S. and Canada aren't eligible for prizing, we're still getting bloggers from overseas who just want to help raise money. Friggin' awesome! England, Australia... some are American ex-pats, others are just interested in helping the cause. Seriously, I find that so amazing that I can barely find the words to express how happy it makes me.
• Over the past couple of weeks I've been e-mailing some of the big bloggy names to see if they're willing to participate on a non-contest basis, meaning they can spread the word and do the blogging like everyone else, but they're not eligible for prizing because having a massive amount of readers kind of unfairly tips the scales in their direction. There's a handful I've invited that have yet to respond, but some of our "celeb" bloggers at the moment include author Rachel Kramer Bussel, sex educator and director Jamye Waxman, author and director Audacia Ray, author and Wired columnist Regina Lynn, and author Jessica Cutler. More should be coming on soon... I can't wait!
There will be more soon... the event officially kicks off on Tuesday, and the press release goes out tomorrow. Have you signed up yet?
