"You don't think I come out with these blinding flashes of deduction when I'm completely sober, do you?"

...and on the last night, I got a little tipsy. Good vino and good company made for a perfect ending to a perfect trip. In typical fashion I was blurting out whatever magnificent insights came into my brain (like someone else I know...) and asking highly inappropriate questions of my dining companions. But that's the best way to learn about people, I think - put them in situations they don't normally deal with and see how they react.

In the middle of dinner we paused to watch a guy propose to his girlfriend. It was so lovely and touching that I almost cried, but more shiraz cleared that up quickly. But really, it was touching. It's both amazing and admirable when a man is able to stand for what he wants.

On the short walk home, Cody and I brayed random quotes from Scarface before the three of us, and one of Maite's friends, retired in Cody's room to drink more wine - which Cody stole from one of my bags - and climb all over a firetruck. See, our last hotel was an old fire station, and Cody's room had an old school firetruck in it. And a pole. No, there are no pictures of me on the pole... but there may be a picture or two of me doing my best Tawny Kitaen impression on the hood of the fire engine. Maybe.

And now I'm in the business class lounge, prepping to go home.

This trip really was incredible. And some day I will tell you all why.
