"Here's my argaroll socks straight from California, made in Taiwan."

It's nearly 8am. I'm in the Taiwan airport waiting for my transfer to Bangkok and what do I see when I get off the plane? Free internet access! Not $10 for 5 minutes, like in Ireland. Not $22 for a day, like in Australia. Free! And they have these little terminals everywhere with laptops, which is great for me considering I left my laptop at home in an attempt to disconnect a little on this trip. Looks like I'm doing great with that so far.

My flight left an hour late - at 2:15am - and while I'm in no way complaining about the service or anything, let's just say I greatly understand the differences between taking a 16 hour flight in first class and taking a 16 hour flight in economy. The plus? I could still choose which movie I wanted to watch (Jurassic Park - I've already seen Evan Almighty, Pirates and Knocked Up when I was to and fro Oz.) The minus? Sleeping in that seat was about as comfortable as sleeping in a can of sardines (or so I suspect.) Luckily I was so exhausted that it didn't matter and I actually got a solid eight in.

I don't have much else to report at the moment, because all I've done is sleep on a plane. I really need to go explore this airport. I've already seen a zen lounge decorated with bamboo stalks, featuring massage chairs. The Duty Free shopping rivals South Coast Plaza. And I've already spotted my first odd foreign product - Gentle Cigarettes. (Do they give you nicer lung cancer than all the other ones?)

More soon.
